I fell madly in love with each one of my children from the very beginning. They were each beautiful, smelled so lovely and new, and their sounds were like a magical song calling, captivating every cell of my being. I stood in amazement at each new smile and every new thing they discovered.I relished in having that skin on skin contact with each of my babies knowing of that unbreakable bond we were creating, an invisible contract of holy love between mother and child. I wished I could have captured it in a photograph...their little tiny feet and hands, their big flirty eyes and long dark eyelashes and all those wet kisses, oh my! Then there was the way they gave into sleep and their whole bodies were absorbed into mine. Babies don't hold back, they give in...whole hearted unconditional love. I don't think there is anything more beautiful...

Warm Rain

Moving has always been a great adventure for me, I was born with the gypsy spirit, a wanderer if you will.As a seven year old girl I was giddy with delight, ready to see new places and make new friends as my family left behind the thousands of colors of green in the Pacific Northwest and headed to Illinois where my father had found work a year earlier There were new things to see like fields of wheat and corn planted in perfect rows and there was Chicago, deep dish pizza, the Chicago Cubs, fancy French Restaurants and more importantly people to meet and cultures to explore.

During those three years I would experience four real changing seasons, see the poverty of the Southside of Chicago, and feel the real economic and racial divisions that existed in the late 1960's . We saw some of the beginnings of school desegregation causing the first armed guards in public schools. In third grade I was introduced to "Woodstock" in an after school program...my parents were less than thrilled about that! All of this helped to shape the person that I am today...

There was another lesson learned that I write about today...It was before the cornfields began to show life, before the grasses had began to turn green and before the last bell had rang for the start of summer vacation... I was outside playing at the end of our gravel driveway where it met the pavement of the street and it began to rain. It was a warm rain that when you lifted your face toward heaven you were showered in warmth and love. As my clothes were soaked it was as though they became a second skin, warm and comfortable. The water gathered in warm puddles as it ran down the streets of our small community. Children appeared from all over to dance and splash, to feel that warm spring rain that washed away the dirtiness of a long winter and brought hope through the newness of spring. The magic of that day has stayed with me teaching me of the miracles of this earth, being present to enjoy the wonderment of God, and most importantly to FEEL the warmth of the rain. Feeling is a huge part of this human experience...

The Second Act

Today I begin the second act of my life. I have to admit, it is pretty exciting! To now take all that I have learned in the first 50 years and begin creating the next 50 or so! Wow!
Let's begin with some of what I have learned...Stop and smell the roses. Dance! Appreciate the beauty of this earth and care for all that God has given us stewardship over. If it's worth doing, do it well. Find the beauty in even the simplest of things. LIVE the golden rule.Hug the ones you love as much as possible.Babies grow up way to fast! Look each person in the eye and smile! See others the way God see's them. Always look for the good. When people tell you who they are, believe them. I can't change anyone else so don't even try. I can change my own attitude. The only thing I have control over are my own choices.Use your talents or loose your talents.Seek first to understand, then to be understood.Power comes from telling the truth. I am always creating with my thoughts and feelings. I am not Wonder Woman. Repentance is a wonderful thing. Focus on FEELING good! Live by the Spirit. Know that with God all things are possible.Don't take myself so damn seriously! Let people go who don't want to climb the mountain of life with you. Stop trying to drag them along. The weight can cost you your dreams, your purpose, your health and even your life.There is the milk of the gospel and there is the meat of the gospel. I am always in a state of learning. Life is a beautiful, priceless experience.
Where do I go from here? I plan to climb a mountain, take lots of walks, practice yoga, create new media to lift people who choose to be elevated. I will live by the Spirit and serve God with all my might, mind, and soul. I will be an ambassador of peace. I will create from a place of love....and I will dance!

Weddings 101 or the school of hard knocks...

I think we are defiantly in a learning curve here...we went to look for wedding invitations at my favorite printers this week and there were so many choices . Vera Wang had some beautiful designs as did others. We chose several designs and I casually ask what we were looking at price wise for 500 invitations...Holy cow!!! $3000.00 to $8000., yes dollars! For a beautiful piece of paper announcing my daughters wedding that would be thrown away shortly after our friends and family received it! Well, even if I had that in my budget it wouldn't be spent on something that is thrown away!
We came home, designed an invitation that really is a representation of our darling bride and groom, went to the paper store and purchased gorgeous paper and they are being printed right now...all for $350.00 plus postage.
Like I said....it's a learning curve!

Another new beginning...

Jacque is getting married! This is a first for me, my oldest daughter is getting married. Seems like yesterday she was born, this tiny wiry baby with tons of black hair and dark skin. My dad called her "Juanita". Now she is getting married! I know, I am repeating myself. I just can't get over how quickly time has passed! I still see myself as clear as day picking her up from the bassinet and dancing around the living room with her in my arms, you see she couldn't sleep unless she was moving (or I was moving). She has remained on the go her whole life.

Jacque has been planning weddings her entire life too. Every summer she would lead in planning weddings for all her brothers and sisters and neighborhood friends. She would plan down to the last detail. I would get "urgent" calls to come home from work and decorate the cake with pansies from our yard so the wedding would be a success! It was always magical and well thought out. My favorite was the wedding of her four year old brother Sam to his 3 year old friend Mary! It was so cute!

Now it is for real....(gulp). My baby, my daughter, my kindred spirit, my friend is embarking into the adult world. She's ready but am I??? Holy cow, this is such a strange mix of feelings and emotions. I'm not sure what to do with myself at this point. I want to yell "stop! wait! Let's hold the show for a minute while I figure out how life has passed by so quickly!" Can we go back to the days she was writing, producing and directing plays in our living room? I want to savoir all that one last time before she goes out to live adult life! No one told me how this part would feel! I have always spent so much time working to provide for all my children that sometimes I forgot to breathe in the moments, the joy, the laughter, the experience of motherhood. Now it is changing, they are growing up into adulthood and I am at another stage of life...almost 50, fighting cancer, starting a new business, a relatively new marriage and once again a new phase of life. It's like I stand at the edge of a cliff and everyone is saying jump, I am frozen and someone is about to push me off...into the unknown abyss! But I keep going, walking off the cliff in faith, hoping that the next phase of life will be easier? Having hope in all things and that somehow God will get me through. I just wish I felt ready for what life brings next...for now I am awash in the NOW...teens, new career, cancer, 50! Yikes!!!

Gaylen comes home today. I've missed him terribly. Life is so complete with him...even the little things, cooking is a blast, cleaning up with the kids, etc. I'm yet to find the joy in paying the bills together...I'll find it someday, I'm sure.
I am so grateful for our home, the shelter and warmth it gives to our family...oh and the space! Having 10 people in 2000 square feet was hard! 6500 square feet gives breathing space and privacy! I am so grateful for our beautiful room. It's more than I could have ever hoped for...more like a suite and nicer than any 5star hotel I've ever stayed in. The stone floors, views of the green space, steam showers, massive bath is unbeleivable! I am grateful to be so blessed!This was not a home I would normally have chosen. It works for our situation. The big appeal was the security, cameras, and electronic gate. It gives me a sense of security from the sick stalker who seems to follow our every move.
I love the 1/2 acre wooded lot that backs up to the greenspace. I love the privacy! It's going to be a great party house for our friends and family! The yard will be great for wedding receptions too. We are starting our garden in a few weeks...healthier foods, save money on produce and just be a little more self sufficiant!
You know, life is good! Thank you God for everything!

Deepak is on Dateline tonight with some other panelist talking about whether or not Satan is real...interesting topic.
There are times when I'd like to place that label on a person..."She's possessed by the devil", when in reality she may be surrounded by darkness, madness, mental illness, poor judgement, living in lies, self pity, loneliness, negativity, poor choices and what ever else afflicts her. Are all these things lumped into the Category of Satan? The truth is that they have been since the beginning of time. We had no way of explaining this unless it was the "Devil". As we learn and grow we find more about the human mind, the human experience, we peel back the layers and we see it is so much more complex that a person named "Satan".
We as humans want to take things so literally sometimes. God created all things both spiritually and temporally. We must remember we are spiritual beings having a human experience, not the other way around.
There is the figurative and the literal. There is light and there is darkness, there is positive and there is negative. There is good and there is evil. There is opposition in all things until we return to love, return to the tree of life, the pure love of God. So many ways to say it...Nirvana, Heaven, etc.
It's my prayer today that I might live by the fruit of the tree of life.

It's misty outside, the clouds can't decide between rain and snow. That's a little like I feel inside, the storm has fizzled yet there remains a little sadness. My heart wants to make things work out for everyone. My heart wants to see the good in all. I realize that it is a persons pain body that makes them act in negative ways. I know that the persons spirit is pure and good and a child of God. I just wish I knew how to help them. There are so many in pain. So much negative thought. If this world is to transform we must lift ourselves and others up out of the sludge of this life.
What can I do today to make a difference? I know it starts inside me...the change that is. I know God loves us...each and everyone of us. I will strive to see the good, see the truth, and live by the spirit today.
Beyond the mist and clouds there is blue sky. Beyond the heaviness of my heart there is peace and love...

Saying goodbye nearly tore my heart out...I feel like part of me was stripped away! One of the better parts I might add. I am so proud of Jacque for being willing to serve God this way. I just never expected it to hurt so bad! I go to call her but I can't...I dream about her but I can't touch her....Mostly I just break out in tears in random places, at random times...sob, sob. I'm not even kidding. It's got to get better. :)

On most days I can be found full of gratitude, amazement at this wonderful life, beautiful earth, and can find purpose in almost every situation. Today isn't one of those days...I fail to understand insanity! I cannot comprehend the idea of revenge. Nor the thought of violence toward another human being.

My past, although difficult has taught me much, how to love, how to care and provide for my own family, how to be a responsible human being in this society, and how to have empathy but not to be sucked into someone elses "story". We must be responsible. We need to be accountable or be held accountable. We need to teach our children this principle early on and it will ease their difficulties and struggles too.

Insanity, obsession, stalking are the EGO in over drive ! It is complete disconnect from God.
